This document will guide you through installing and setting up the Flashtool, the software package used to upgrade firmware on 75F devices.
The following steps will assume no existing flashtool instance is present on the PC.
For this process you will need the following:
- Hyperstat Split
- PC with internet connectivity
- USB C cable
Step 1: Install the Flashtool software
Flashtool Software: Obtain current version from Firmware Production Release channel
The Flashtool Software will come in a .zip file. Extract the contents to the C:\ directory.
Step 2: Install the STLink Cube software
STLink Cube Software: Download
The STLink Cube software is support software for the Flashtool. The link from the ST Micro website will require that you enter in an email address from which to receive the download link. Once you receive the email, you will be able to download a .zip file. Extract the contents into your downloads folder, then double-click the .exe file to install it.
The installation process should only take a couple minutes, and may prompt you to update associated drivers.
Step 3: Flash the Hyperstat
On the Hyperstat, locate the USB-C port along the bottom edge of the device:
Connect to this port from your computer using a USB-C cable. Next, set the small switch to the left of the USB connector to the leftmost position.
Now, reset power to the device. The screen will remain white through the duration of this process.
On your computer, open up the Command Prompt by clicking the Start Menu and typing "cmd". Then press enter or click "Open" on the right side of the menu:
Note: For the following commands, you can either type them directly or copy-and-paste them from this page into the command prompt.
The command prompt should then open. Type the following into the command prompt, then hit enter:
CD C:\Flashtool
Next, enter the command to flash the Hyperstat. Type the following into the command prompt, then hit enter:
.\hyperstat
Note: during this command you may be prompted with a popup regarding permissions, click "Allow" or "Yes" to all prompts.
This command will output a stream of text and take about two minutes to complete. If successful, you should see the following line of text at the end:
Application Data flashing complete
At this point, you can unplug the USB cable from the Hyperstat, and reset the switch to the middle position (note that there are three positions on the switch, ensure that it is set to the middle position and not to the rightmost position).
Reset power to the device, and you should see the device startup normally after a few seconds. If not, double-check the switch configuration, and ensure there were no error messages in the command prompt.
You can verify that the firmware update was successful by pressing the middle and right buttons on the Hyperstat simultaneously, then hitting the "next" button twice to navigate to the "Versions" menu. The "FW Version" line should read 100.3.0.
